Painting the Figure (Online) January 17th, 24th, and 31st

The 3 day workshop will concentrate on the salient topics relating to painting the figure in oils. Each day will start with Jacob doing a lecture/demonstration pertaining to relevant topics and skills in the various stages of a Figurative painting. During the course the participants will have the option to paint multiple figure paintings from photo references giving them an opportunity to work through the principles covered in the workshop to give a greater understanding
Extras that come with the class -after each zoom class there will be an extra recording during the week of the finishing process of painting the figure. -short videos each week pertaining to painting the different areas of the figure. -videos on edges and color relationships. Two class critiques will be available. -One during class(unless requested to be done through email) -Another one on one critique done through Zoom or Whats App(or email if it is requested) Main topics covered during the workshop; -composition -accurate drawing (proportions) -value control (benefits of the 5 value system) -edge control -cool light vs warm light -importance of proper temperature shifts -using value and color to show depth -color theory -simplifying shadow shapes. -the use of various tools and techniques to achieve expressive -The use of line within a painting -wet into wet painting vs.wet on dry painting -Creating atmosphere around figure All videos will be available for at least 4 months Zoom links will be sent out the day before the workshop |
