This is a three day work shop exploring the portrait which will consist of two 3 hour demos, one with warm light and the other with cool light. I will be addressing the importance of an accurate drawing, value control, temperature shifts, edge control, color choices and the use of various tools to achieve different effects. Other things that will be covered are studio vs alla prima paintings and the advantages and disadvantages of both. The workshop will be located at my studio in Vallejo, CA.
Day 1: Morning: Demonstration with warm light. Afternoon: Participants will paint from the model with warm light
Day 2: Morning: Demonstration with cool light. Afternoon: Participants will paint from the model with cool light
Day 3: All day pose where participants will paint from the model.

Accommodations and Location
There are hotels by six flags and some coming into the city and out on highway 29. There is also a bed and breakfast a mile away from my studio.
For those who will be staying in San Francisco without a car. There is ferry and bus that runs between San Francisco and Vallejo which is available (the art studio is two blocks from the Vallejo ferry building).
Napa is about a 15 mile drive.
